Wild horse sights and scenes from the Onaqui Mountains in Utah. These wild horses live on a 205,394 acre Herd Management Area (HMA) on the west desert, about 60 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, in Tooele County. One of the more accessible wild horse herds in America, they can often be spotted along the historic Pony Express Trail. Because of this they see quite a few more visitors and thus are more tolerant of humans, than many of the other more remote herds. Because of this acceptance of people in their environment, we must take responsibility for respecting their space and giving them room to live their lives. Never crowd them, and never forget that they are still wild animals!
